Pool table questions, answered
Can a pool table be moved in the winter?
Yes. The main concern is the route between the house and the vehicle. Clear the snow and ice from the driveway, walk and steps before the appointment, and tell us about anything that cannot be cleared. Ask how the parts will be protected from the weather between the house and the vehicle.
Does a table need time to settle after being moved in the cold?
Wood and cloth react to big changes in temperature and humidity. Give the room time to come back to a normal temperature before judging how the table plays, and mention it if you notice it moving out of level in the following weeks.
My address is across the border in Ontario. What should I include?
Check the service area list on this site, then include the full address with the town and province. Mention whether the table is crossing the border as part of the move, because that needs to be discussed before anything is booked.
How do I know if my table has a slate bed?
Most quality home tables do. A slate table is very heavy, and the underside usually shows the slate edge and the frame supporting it. Tables with a wood or composite bed are lighter. A photo underneath the table settles the question.
What happens if my cushions feel dead?
Cushion rubber hardens with age, and a ball that stops short off the rail is the usual sign. New cloth alone will not fix that, so mention it when you ask about recovering and the cushions can be looked at at the same time.
What should be ready on the day of the appointment?
Clear the table and the space around it, move breakable items away from the route, and keep pets out of the work area. Have a light on where the work is being done, especially in basements.
